More Wildlife pictures!

Last week myself and a very dear friend of mine went out for the day armed with our camera’s. We even had a plan! Pulbourough Brooks RSPB.

Pulborough Brooks is set in the sheltered Arun Valley within the South Downs National Park in West Sussex. The Visitor Centre and reserve is open all year and boasts a great variety of habitats including wetlands, woodland, and heathland.

Pulborough Brooks is a haven for a wide range of wildlife, and a fantastic day out for people of all ages.

Only…. Not the day we went! We didn’t really see anything and what we did see was to far away. It even rained a little which didn’t help So we decided to leave and move onto plan B, then C, D and even E. It was here in a little field that I stumbled on last year that the day was rescued, Our first sighting was this

IMG_9579ctaggedFollowed by two Roe deer there were also lots of little birds Including Robins, Chaffinch and Great tits and this was just in the first half hour of being there. We continued to walk through the field and after around five mins We saw this happening

I was using a 400mm lense but they were in the next field so there not as good as I would like but it definitely made my day watching it all happen, Needless to say this will now be a regular spot of mine and I may even have to invest in a portable hide of some sort!

My first Stonechat (couple)

IMG_9532tagged

Here is my first Stonechat picture!

Stonechats are robin sized birds. Males have striking black heads with white around the side of their neck, orange-red breasts and a mottled brown back. Female Stonechats lack the male’s black head, but have brown backs and an orange tinge to their chests. Stonechats are frequently seen flicking their wings while perched, often doing so on the tops of low bushes. As its name suggests, Stonechats utter a sharp loud call that sound like two stones being tapped together. They breed in western and southern parts of the UK, but disperse more widely in winter.

I took this picture along with the accompanying female Stonechat at WWWT Arundel Wetland Centre, Located in Arundel, West Sussex.

These pictures will be available soon on my website, Printed, Framed & Mounted from as little as £25.

Finally a half descent Kingfisher shot

King fisher for web AMKingfisher…Kingfisher…Kingfisher… Finally I have a Kingfisher photo that I’m almost happy with! It’s only taken me two years and probably around 600 hours but today (12/01/2016) I managed to get this image. This Kingfisher is about the size of an adult fist and is so far the best Kingfisher shot I have taken! Although I’m always on the look out for a Kingfisher It took me by surprise and only rested on this branch for around 10 seconds, I was scanning the lake from the hide at Arundels Wildfowl & Wetland Trust From 9.30am when at lunch time, just as I was thinking of going to get something to eat I noticed a blue shimmer in the branches, I quickly adjusted the settings on my camera and fired off two identical shots this one being the less blurry! Already I cant wait to better this and really want to be able to get a bit closer. This image was shot at 400mm and has been cropped.

MY HAWK WALK WITH NEW WORLD FALCONRY.

Last week I went to Fernhurst to have a Hawk Walk with New World Falconry, The first thing that struck me as I drove up the long winding driveway was how beautiful the area is! There were even fields with horses either side of the road. Once we (Myself and my father in law) arrived at the private car park Jason (the falconer) was waiting there to meet us, We went straight to a little room where Jason made us a coffee and explained a few things about what to do and what not to do. After a short time we walked past a big beautiful house into what felt like its back garden And then there it was suddenly out of no where… Hawks, Avery’s and another little office. I would have walked past not even knowing it was there!

Jason showed us the other birds and handed us a glove, We then went straight out into t

he open forest Where Tokyo (The Harris Hawk) just flew off straight in to a tree about 20 meters away. We walked whilst Jason started to explain about the birds natural habitat. After about 100 feet I was instructed to raise my glove from my side and call “Tokyo” I did and he flew straight to me, After about a minuet he flew off in front of us and perched again, This time on his own accord he took flight and flew from tree to tree all around us And as before each time we were instructed to raise our glove he came straight to it! Although I have worked with and visited many other falconry companies before The woodland walk coupled with the Hawk free flying around us and Jason’s vast knowledge and ability to answer every question we fired at him was like nothing I have ever experienced before! This was by far the best Falconry experience I have had! Needless to say I am more Happy to recommend New World Falconry, There details are:

Arundel Castle light orb

arundel castle gate house aaron marshallThe Light orb is a unique form of light painting. and one that I enjoy very much!  The Light orb itself  is created in a single exposure by swinging lights around. This particular Light Orb was created out side the main gate of Arundel Castle in Arundel, West Sussex.

Littlehampton Beach.

I have had this shot in mind For a while now And Recently (16/10/2014) I think I achieved what I set out to do!

I arrived at Littlehampton beach with the intention of taking a photograph of something we all, As locals would recognize but not necessarily want a picture of & turn it in to something that could be hung on a wall. Maybe even on a canvas! Of course I knew I was going to achieve this with a long exposure and I knew the subject I wanted to Photograph… But what I didn’t know was how much fun it would be to create & how much I would like the shot myself!

This print is going to be limited to 150 prints, 50 of which will be signed by me (The Photographer). Unfortunately I don’t have a name for it…. So I have joined forces with Jericho’s The Sweet Store to give you the chance of winning not only a printed & mounted copy of the picture 12″ x 10″ & A £10 gift voucher for Jericho’s sweet store, But also the chance of naming this photo! (If you would like to)

jerichos

There will also be a printed copy of the picture in Jericho’s sweet shop along side the jar of sweets for you to view, Guesses can be made via this Facebook post or in Jericho’s sweet shop. The competition will last untill  the 1st of December 2014. Only one person will win the £10 Jerico’s Sweet Shop voucher & Print, However every one that guesses correctly will have the chance of naming the picture.

To make things simple its best to type your guess like this:

Hudson Bay Wolf

A Little while ago I was lucky enough to be able to Photograph some Canis lupus hudsonicus, Known to us as The Hudson Bay Wolf. Its definitely one of the many photography related memories I will never forget! Although I was photographing these animals in captivity

I WAS IN THE CAGE WITH THEM.

I am now trying to sort through my pictures for the new website and would like your opinions on whether I should have these two pictures in Black & White or Not?
